THE CR0WD NETWORK

CR0WD (Circularity, Reuse, Zero Waste Development) is a collaborative network of planners, architects, preservationists, policymakers, salvage and reuse professionals, real estate specialists, academics, and students from around New York State. We welcome all who are working to create healthier communities through more sustainable treatment of our built environment.

In the summer of 2020, CR0WD founding partners came together, concerned about continued demolition in central New York and its harm to our environment, economies, and sense of place. Initially focused in the Finger Lakes region, CR0WD has expanded its partners and initiatives to become a leading voice in New York State for the benefits of deconstruction and reuse of building materials.

As we expand our efforts across New York State, we welcome anyone to join us.

The Circular Construction Lab

The Circular Construction Lab (CCL) houses a design research program that advances the paradigm from linear material consumption towards circular economy within an industrialized construction industry.

Historic Ithaca

Historic Ithaca advocates for the preservation of historic buildings and a continued appreciation for the built environment. HI runs Significant Elements, an architectural salvage retail store that also helps train young people in retail and preservation-related skills.

Finger Lakes ReUse

Finger Lakes ReUse operates a community-oriented warehouse, shopping, and educational center where the maximum reuse of materials is a priority. They strive to enhance community, economy and environment through ReUse

Just Places Lab

The Just Places Lab is an interdisciplinary platform for research and creative action centered on community memory, public imagination, and the socially just care of places.

Preservation Association of Central New York

Founded in 1974, the Preservation Association of Central New York is dedicated to the conservation of our area’s historic architecture, neighborhoods and mainstreets, preserving the past through adaptive reuse to serve as a living part of our community.

Susan Christopherson Center for Community Planning

The Christopherson Center works to enhance the capacity of New York State communities to engage meaningfully and successfully in planning projects related to climate resilience, equity and the built environment.
